French Troupes Coloniales 1911 ~ Anne Marie is aprox 3 years old.
The French Colonial Troops were the early version of the French Foreign Legion.

Anne Marie's Father was an Engineer and Officer within the French Colonial Troops. Engineers, such as AM's Father, were
considered a 'learned corps' and were distant from most military affairs. They were often more like 'governement employees'.
One impressive project he was instrumental on was a dam. This photo is a fine example of French dam design of the 1900's.

'Tirailleur'
The gentleman with his foot on the briefcase with rifle, pistol and a knife in his belt is a Tirailleur or Sharpshooter.

(For a closer look at these uniforms go here.)
